Automation Software Engineer

FPI Food Processing Innovation GmbH + Co. KG is the innovation driver for the global market of poultry processing solutions in the BAADER Group. Your future tasks will include:

  • Develop and enhance a modular PLC software platform within an industrial machinery environment
  • Design and implement object-oriented PLC structures (e.g. according to IEC 61131-3, OOP in Structured Text)
  • Integrate modern communication standards such as OPC UA, MQTT, and edge solutions for data connectivity and digitalization
  • Contribute to the implementation of state-of-the-art CI/CD processes, automated testing, and version control (Git)
  • Ensure software quality and reusability through modern development guidelines and clean code principles
  • International cooperation and close exchange within an interdisciplinary and intercultural team, as well as active participation in shaping an open, learning-oriented team culture
  • Share knowledge, mentor colleagues, and encourage innovative approaches

Qualifications, experiences and personal skills you possess:

  • Successfully completed university degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, Computer Science, or a comparable field of study
  • Relevant experience in PLC programming (e.g. Beckhoff TwinCAT, Siemens TIA Portal, CODESYS, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented PLC programming and modular software architecture
  • Experience with OPC UA, edge computing, or IoT integrations advantageous
  • Familiarity with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows is desirable
  • Interest in dealing with topics such as software quality, clean code, and automation
  • Team-oriented approach to work, good communication skills, and a willingness to actively share knowledge
